I believe I have a case of taper jitters.
I skipped out on the group run today because I was worried about keeping up with the rest of the group and running 5 or 6 miles with the case of my cough and my back. I wanted to play hooky with running today. But at about 8:30 a.m., I just couldn't stand it anymore, got dressed and went for a run. A mile or two can't possibly hurt, right?
It was a tad cold outside and very windy. Lovely. Buttercup was excited. And we ran. It was a good run and it was interjected with lots of coughing episodes. Ahhh ... not so fun anymore. So, I just ran 1.15 mile. I think I ran about a 10:39min/mile today. The back hurts a twinge when I run and it hurts when I cough.
So, I never thought I would be the kind to ever have taper jitters. But taper jitters hit me today when I realized that I haven't ran since Tuesday and I have this cough and back pain. I know it will be OK. I just needed to vocalize the anxiety. I have exactly 1 week to get myself in good health! Holy smokes!
Taper really messes with the head! One more week!! Wooohooo!!
