A new week, a new day, AND

some new goals ....
3 miles in 34:41 miles @ 11:39/mile

I hit the local Y at about 9ish this morning and got 3-miles done. It was quite an OK run. I am happy I am through with it but I feel like I still have some more to give. So, I thought, maybe I will go for a run later this evening. Nothing fancy - just another few more miles to log some mileage in. I am not training for a long race anytime soon, just a 5K coming up. I do have the 50-mile in June challenge going on, so, I will probably do 2 runs in a day at least once a week to rake in some miles. I do want to hit 50 miles before June actually ends - ideally a week before the last day of June.

After my run, I went and used the chest press machine, the pecs fly machine and one other one to work my shoulders.  My upper body strength is a joke.  So, because school is out and I actually have more time in the a.m., I am going to also incorporate strength training to build my core. I will start doing push-ups on a ball when I wake up and right before I go to bed. I will also start strength training my legs too.

I am planning to go at different times of the day this week to see if there is a day when the thermostat is set at a lower temperature. It was 70 when I stepped foot into the workout area and 71 when I was finished with my run.  That's because sometimes it is on 68 and sometimes it is on 70s. Being the non-assertive, chickened scaredy cat I am, I really avoid asking for anything. But what's the worst that could happen right? I'd just get rejected. They aren't going to throw me out because I paid membership for it and I have been a good user of the gym.  So, after this week, I'll go and ask them if they would either provide a fan or if it would be ok for me to provide a fan. That's what I will do.  If not, it will be ok too. What doesn't kill me, will only make me stronger. :)

These are my morning thoughts during today's run/workout session.  What about you? Is there something you should be doing to make you a stronger person or a better runner? Is there a goal that you know you should be doing but haven't been doing?

Have a good rest of the week. It will be a pretty fine one.

  4. I hear you on not saying anything, I'm the same way.But you are right, worst case scenario they say no and everything stays the same. But when you ask there is high chance they change it while you are there :) You can do it :)
