Random Bits.

I have been tired because I have been busy. Between moving, settling in, working, and taking care of the our house in Louisiana, I feel a little zapped out of energy. Instead of waking up at 4:45 a.m. to get ready for my 5 a.m. run this morning, I slept through the alarm until 7:30 a.m. That leaves me 15 minutes to get ready for work. Good thing I was Army-bred ... My daddy taught me well!

Since I was seriously lacking time in the day, I decided to be brave and run outside with Paddy.  That way, I can kill 2 birds with one stone (1 outside run kills spending time with Paddy and getting my miles in). It wasn't at all easy. Holding the leash puts my arm in a weird angle that tires my shoulder. So I had to switch the leash between both hands and to roll my shoulders a few times during the run to stretch the muscles.

We covered 3.5 miles in 40:49 minutes. Approximately. It took a while because we had to chase squirrels, lizard, deer, dog, and a horsefly.  I had to tell myself, "It's ok. Just let her run. Don't worry about your time." I had a good time. I love spending time with her.

We decided to get a in-ground fence for her. It is for the best. I would hate for her to roam out to the highway and get run over by vehicles. Paddy can fend for herself in the wild, but on the road, I worry about her. So, I cannot wait for the package to arrive and have it all set up, so I can have her close to me again. I miss my Paddy Wag.

I am supposed to run again on Thursday and again on Saturday.

And I think I am going to open a bottle of wine tonight.

Yeap.

  3. When I run with my dog, it easily adds ten minutes to my run. He loves smelling EVERYTHING! : )

  4. I get beaten up pretty badly when I run with my dog (Sarah). When she decides to bolt after something or someone, I find myself losing all form and stomping after her. It'a hard on my knees amd hips sometime. She's better after dark for some reason and she's great protection.
