I am thankful for...

Thanksgiving is around the corner and while walking Paddy Wag this morning, I thought about all the things I am thankful for. There are so many of them. I figured I would do a weekly post with a list of 7 things I am thankful for to Thanksgiving.
And since we are already two weeks into November, here are 14 thankful things.
  1. I am thankful for my parents. They instilled good morals and values. My parents were strict disciplinarians yet, they balanced it with unspoken love. Without them, there will be no "Lace It Up and Run."
  2. I am thankful for my brother. He is less of a wanderer than I am and prefers to be close to home. He is home taking care of our parents and that gives me the chance to be out on my own. (The Chinese love to have kids close to home - very close to home.)

  3. I am thankful for my boyfriend. He taught me the importance of family and the importance of service to the family. He has patiently guided me to be more rational, more logical. He supported me through the years in my choice of careers and hobbies.
  4. I am thankful for his family. They are my family away from home. They love me. They are there to celebrate all my achievement which always mean a lot to me because my parents aren't here for those glorious moments. They keep me grounded. They make me feel like I am one of them.
  5. I am thankful I have Paddy Wag. She is my baby. She makes me laugh. She makes me mad. She mades me cry. She keeps me company. And I think she'd protect me.
  6. I am thankful for my best friend. She believes in me.
  7. I am thankful that for the past 32 years, my life has been rather easy. Sure, there were a few bumps along the way, but nothing I can't recover from, nothing that time can't heal.
  8. I am thankful that I have a roof over my head. The living situation isn't all 100% perfect, but it is ok. I have a roof. I am safe. I have my boyfriend. And I have Paddy. We are all together.
  9. I am thankful that my parents gave me the OK to strike it out on my own in the great U.S.A. I have the opportunity to grow up and be an adult and pay bills and juggle chores. If I were still home, I wouldn't have a clue about paying bills or doing laundry or cooking.
  10. I am thankful that I found myself. I'm not under peer pressure to be dressed up in nines or go drink until I throw up or dance till there is no tomorrow. I realized who I am and what I really like to do without the influence of other people. Turns out, I like to cook, sew, run, sleep, and drink hot milky tea, and occasionally a glass of white wine.
  11. I am thankful that I have a job that I enjoy doing and work well with most of my co-workers.
  12. I am thankful that I have perfectly healthy legs so I can keep running.
  13. I am thankful for learning to manage my money from a young age. I am never rich. I am never poor. But I'm debt-free.
  14. I am thankful for Facebook. Really. Without Facebook, I wouldn't be able to stay in close contact with my cousins in Singapore. It really is effective in connecting people.

I like the one about being thankful you found yourself. Life is so much easier without all that nonsense of peer pressure. Just doing what we want is so much easier!
