No Baby Talk

This is my attempt at serious workout talk and a post that is absolutely baby-free. :)

So, today is 4 weeks post-partum. That means there are 2 more weeks to the obligatory 6-week rest.  Physically, I am feeling quite good. There are still some parts that hurt. And sometimes, it feels like I am about to rip open a suture or something. But otherwise, I am getting around really well.  I am less hormonal too, which is a good thing. I was crying at every single little thing - even when the boyfriend said, "I love you," I would turn on the waterworks! Now, the tears are under control.

Anyway, this post is to help keep me accountable. I gained A LOT of weight during the pregnancy, and I didn't have the "Eating For Two" mentality either. I just blew up! I believe I was close to 200lbs (pre-preggo: 138 lbs plus or minus). I am down to 160lbs now. So, that means I have 20lbs to go to hit 140. Since I am exclusively breast-feeding, I am not dieting. I am just eating regular meals and trying to eat nutritious meals too. Anyway, the point is, I am not going to diet yet and I cannot wait to start running again.

So far, my activities include: walking with the baby strapped onto me, and nursing. It isn't a long walk - mostly up and down the long driveway so we will get some fresh air. I need to go on strolls more with the baby and the best friend.

So, the point of this post?
1. To let the word out that I will lose the weight through exercise
2. I forgot! (My memory has gone out the window).

I will post more later this week with pictures.
And I have been reading some of your posts. I just haven't been commenting because I have been really stretched thinly. Trying to juggle it all. :) But I am around. So, hang in there and bear with me.

  1. I think you're doing great! And just remember, it took 9 months for the weight to get there. You shouldn't stress about trying to take it all off overnight. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate, and keep exercising when you can. You'll see a difference before you know it!

  2. I agree with Megan and people have given me the same advice. 9 months on = at least 9 months to lose it! If not more. Focus on your precious baby boy and weight loss can wait. I am only a week post partum and already wanting to exercise, but I know I need to give my body time to rest and heal. Can't wait til we can be exercise buddies again!

  3. Don't stress too much about the weight. Take it one day at a time and before you know you will start running (either on the treadmill or after Jack :) ) and the weight will fall in place. Enjoy the time with your baby boy and your best friend!

  4. I can't believe it's already been four weeks. The weight will come off in no time I'm sure!

  5. I was 136 before I had my first and 200 on the day I delivered. The lightest I've ever been since I became a mom is 152 lbs. Now I'm at 167, I think. I'm 5'8.5"

My point is, I could be thinner.... I'm just not. I like peanut butter and cupcakes. So I run.

You're active so the weight will fall off. And the stuff that doesn't, just let it stay. You earned it and you look great.

    Congratulations!!
