Ahhhh .... It feels so good.

My phone alarm went off at 4:45 a.m. I turned it off and hid my phone under the pillow and went right back to sleep. I got up at 5 a.m., put some running clothes on and decided that I am going right back into that comfy bed. I snuggled up to the pillows and thought there is no other place I'd rather be. Less than 5 minutes later, I was putting my running shoes on and drove to the Y.  I figured, I could sleep and run later today or run now and be free all day.

I brought my Garmin along with me today, which is something I don't usually do when I am going to run on the treadmill at the Y. When I got out of the car, I was just drawn to running outside. The air was cooler than it has been for a while. It felt kinda nice. So, I ran up and down Main Street and round and round the courthouse. I don't have any reflective anything on me, other than the reflective strips on the shoes, so I ran where there was light. It was awesome. It was dark, but the street lamps were bright it almost looked like Christmas. I definitely did at least 6 inclines, if not more and I RAN up those inclines. When I got a little hot, there was a gently headwind and it made everything felt better. Ran 5 miles in 1:02.

Remember I was talking about a sucky run on my earlier post? Today's run was on the other spectrum. It was pretty dang good. I was not fast, but I was happy running it. I felt a certain bounce on my feet. I smiled while I was running. In fact, I laughed at myself while I was running because I felt so goofy for feeling so giddish over this run.

What about your run? Are you enjoying cooler running temperatures over in your neck of the woods?

  1. Sounds like a great early morning run! It's starting to feel a little better here in the mornings, but I'm looking forward to some chillier temps for running :)
