Three Things Thursday

  1. Wow ... looks like I better rock when I do my 10-miler on Saturday and ice, stretch, and baby myself well after the run. We'll see if I will register on Saturday. I am excited.
  2. Ran 3.4 miles today in 43:23 minutes. I am not exactly thrilled with the timing though. I felt strong and felt like I could push myself a little more and run a little faster. Hmmm ... I'm afraid to admit but maybe, it may be time to cut back on running with a group and start finding someone who will run just a tad faster than what we are doing now.  I believe I can still run comfortably at about 11:30 min/mile pace and sustain it for a while.
  3. I need to start eating properly again. I have been swamped with work and cooking is really the last thing I want to do. Gonna do better next week.


  1. If you do register for the race, then good luck with it! Don't give up on the running group if you enjoy their company -- you could use those runs for your easy runs. Then do speedwork, other training runs on your own or with a faster partner.

  2. I had similar problems with my running group. I really enjoyed their company, but I knew it would not help me with my training. I would suggest to mix it up. For long and easy runs, run with them and the speed work outs you can do on your own. Then you have the best of both worlds :) Good luck with your race!!!

  3. that run might have been at a perfect easy pace. it's tempting to try to make every run faster, but those easy runs are important too.

    Best wishes this weekend. you have a lot of folks routing for you to have a good run so you get into that half marathon!

  4. sometimes its good to run in a group at a slower pace, but sometimes u need to push urself.
    maybe u can do one run with them, and then a few on ur own. and find ur own pace.
    or even sugget to the group about picking it up a bit.

  6. To run with a group sometimes is a bit problematic but usually it helps to improve the speed and not to be lazy. Yes you'll register. Have a great running week end.
