Sharing Life's Simple Pleasures ...

I freaking love this week's Friday, Saturday, and Sunday!

Friday ...
was awesome because I got my 8-mile (long run) done on a treadmill before work - before life starts, before I get grumpy, before I need to put out fire, before I find the need to seek a hiding hole and hide.

Also great about that is I was treating the day with lots of zest and enthusiasm. Even though I was short on time to put my full face on for work, my face was beaming with my after-run glow, a smile that says "I conquered the treadmill that morning", a smile that says I am productive and I got a major thing checked off my to-do list for that day (and weekend, for that matter.)

To top it off - THE ICING - I came home to no one. The whole house was empty. I have the entire house to myself. No one mowing. No one fixing anything. No one painting. No one. Not a single soul! (My living situation is kinda weird right now). For some minutes, I was controlling the urge to feel the relief I wanted to feel. Then, I relaxed and enjoyed my quiet time to myself.  My boyfriend's sweet aunt came over to visit with her dog. We had a nice chat about work and shared some funny stories about my kids. Oh, it was such a delightful delightful afternoon.

Saturday ...
was another wonderful day!
I was up before the sun peeked out at 5 a.m.  I got ALL my laundry done, ironed, and put away before 8 a.m.  I threw in a little stretching. I laid in bed and watch Jane Eyre. And when my boyfriend told me we weren't going to work on the yard in our Louisiana house, I said, "That means I can do whatever I want?" "That means, I can just go PLAY?"

I called my friend and told her if she didn't have anything planned, I would love for her to come play with me! It was quite a drive to her place (2 hours). But, the drive was wonderful. I had Phantom of The Opera and Les Mis' and Britney Spears' CDs (I know, what a weird, abrupt, totally contrasting genres) on rotation. I sang my whole way to her place. The windshield suffered a few cracks ......
We went shopping and had food at an Indian restaurant. We chatted and got caught up.

Sunday ...
I woke up this morning with an urge to run. I didn't because I'm scared that will mess up my training. Three runs a week isn't a whole lot. But, it seems like every time I get a little ambitious/over-zealous and run extra, my knee would just torment me.  I'm playing it safe.  I'm a whimp. But October's race is too important for me to jeopardize. So I threw in another few articles of clothing in the washing machine, found some clothes to iron, and made myself a yummy scrambled eggs, coffee and toast.

Here is what I look like, before putting my face on, before redo-ing my ponytail, before wearing actual presentable clothes to face the world.  I love lazy mornings.  I love drinking coffee by myself in this mug that my boyfriend got me when he was in Missouri. I love how thick the mug is, the brown, the shape of the mug. :)
Here's cheers to you! Wishing you will have a great rest of Sunday and a wonderful wonderful week ahead!!!!

Question: What did you enjoy about your weekend?????

  1. I love lazy quiet mornings too and they seem so rare now that I am married with two small kidlets. My mom has the little ones this morning though and my hubs is out riding his horse, so peaceful for me! :) i got in some great runs this weekend and did grocery shopping yesterday. Nothing too exciting here!

  2. I've enjoyed some reading and baking banana bread. Unfortunately, my run this morning was rained out (and lightning and thunder...), and I don't think I'll be able to fit it in later today. That's OK, though. I'm not really training for anything, so I'll survive.
