Gone to *&^%s

It just kinda sucks. Two weeks off the running schedule is enough to put a dent in anyone's endurance and speed. What little speed I have gained doing speed intervals and whatever Cloud 9 feeling I had when I was running ten miles and then more are gone to shits. Really.

I trudged along for 5 miles on the treadmill this morning at the Y. It wasn't any easy five miles. There are some treadmill runs that are ok. And then, there are the terrible ones. Today, I got the terrible run.  It was never ending. It was boring. The Y has taken the remote control out of the room and it is stuck on some animal adventures program where there were snakes and bats and gators. I am all about some documentary. I love watching cougars and tigers chasing after little deer. I love big menacing sharks gulping down schools of fish. But this was a count down of the top 10 most camouflaged animals. Boring!  After this, was another 30 minute program of loggerhead sea turtles and that was kinda interesting. Following the sea turtle show was SEC something something something. I have always thought it was "SCC" instead of "SEC" so that ought to tell you how much I know about football. I did learn that 3 LSU players were suspended because they tested positive for synthetic marijuana.

That was all the football I can take. I hopped off at 5 miles (57:58 minutes) and called it a day.
Crappy run.

  4. Sometimes you just have to get it done. Log those miles. You will get back in the groove soon.

  6. After two weeks off, you can't expect your first run back to be perfect. Give it a week or two, and you should be back to where you were.

View the tough runs as mental training. :)

  9. I don't know how you do all those treadmill miles. Good for you for finishing it. Camouflaged animals sounds like the most boring thing ever...until you mentioned football.

  10. They won't all be good runs, but good for you for sticking it out. You'll get your speed back, you will!
And SCC, SEC, growing up in the South, the conferences were some of the first things we learned, ha! (but Big 12 is where it's at! Hook 'em!)

  11. Huh - so you learned it is SEC and I just learned there is something called synthetic marijuana!

That sucks that you were stuck with less than exciting shows to watch. :(

Don't worry - your slump won't last long. You'll be back to normal soon. I just know it!
