July goals? Mission accomplished.

I hit my 60 miles I had planned for this month today. It is a wonderful feeling.  I ran 4 miles in 45:08 minutes. I did a little Galloway today and walked about 30-60 seconds after every mile. When I walked, I took a sip of water out of my bottle.  Christina can't multitask on the treadmill. The last time I tried, I almost fell flat on my face.

Random thoughts anyone?
1. My shins and ankles are a little sore. I have been stretching. But I need to stretch more.
2. Maybe running 3 days in a row isn't the way I am supposed to roll. Usually I'd rest on my 3rd running day. It's OK. I will rest tomorrow and swim instead.
3. I need to cook the green beans tonight.
4. Planning meals. Pork chops? Green beans? Mashed potatoes? Gravy?
5. It baffles me that no grocery shop sells fat-free plain yogurt around where I live. Not even Wal-Mart.
6. I dislike the flavored ones. They taste fake. And they are sweet.
7. Greek yogurt is yummy! I love the plain Greek yogurt. But they are pricier and sometimes I just want some regular fat free plain yogurt.
8. Summer's almost over. I gotto go back to work soon.
9. I haven't really "got away" and have a vacation though.
10. The breakfast/granola bar I had in the morning kinda makes me gassy.

There you go. Nothing inspirational. I guess I left my smarts at home this morning.

  1. Regarding shins, are you doing any calf exercises? Besides regular stretching, sometimes strengthening the muscles in your calves will help with shin problems. Something my high school cross-country coach always stressed with us.

    Great job on hitting 60!!!

  5. Great job hitting your 60

I've become hooked on chobani greek. i can find vanilla, but not plain. The local costco sells a 12 pack with 4 each strawberry, peach, blueberry. i can't stand the strawberry, tastes like strawberry jam. but the peach is good, tastes like real peaches. and the blueberry is good, much better than any other blueberry i've tried.

  6. good job on meeting your goals! that is awesome. and u still have 3 days!! u can totally squeeze in another 5 or 6 miles in there.

for ur shins, if u want a good stretch, google 'Yoga is Yummy" and try doing one of her vidoes. they are only 10 mins long and awesome after a run!!!

we need to set up another virtual running date for next week.

  7. Excellen job on the 60 for July - yay!!! I'd try to ice the shin and ankles, in addition to lots of stretching. I had shin splits so bad in college and my coach always made me ice and it helped a lot. Weird, cuz I've never had shin splits after I was done with college track. Crazy about the yogurt :(. We have a yogurt at the local grocery store called "Carbmaster" and it's full of protein and half the cost of that Greek stuff....but it's a local brand (King Soopers. Stupid name for a grocery store, huh??). I just read an article about making your own Green yogurt for a fraction of the cost. Looked like a lot of straining of regular yogurt, but maybe you can google that idea. Have a great weekend!! :)
