See that ironing board?

I had some ambitious goals this Sunday morning. Ten kilometers (6.2 miles). I did them all, but it was a combination of walk and run.  I met up with a willing friend at a subway station at 7:30 a.m. I was running late because I mis-estimated the travel time.
We started at the subway station (also called the MRT - Mass Rapid Transit - station) and made our way along the Singapore River.  We saw many new buildings and I snapped a few shots. Here are the sights.

Basically, we ran along the Singapore River and saw mostly the new buildings and some old ones.

This picture, you see the ferris wheel looking thing that's called Singapore Flyer (like the London Eye)
and that tall  building on the right that looks like an ironing board is a new casino and shopping place.

A lot has changed. The Singapore Government reclaimed part of the land and built some of these
buildings/attractions.
Running through this part was a wonderful way to see the new additions.
It was slow and it was already hot and humid. I messed up many a times on the Garmin.
But according to my friend, we definitely hit at least 10K.
I'll take that!

Sub me an ice bath

I woke up later than usual and once again, contemplated about going for a run.
I called my momma to talk to her and she said if I don't have anything else to do, Going walking/running for a while is good. I'm glad I did it.

I didn't go far but hey, I was out there sweating up a storm.
Two miles (26 minutes) later, I stopped and stretched.
I don't have to tell you again that it's humid.
I got home and took a cold shower. Yes! Been doing the cold showers every time after my runs in Singapore. Is it the same as an ice bath?

What did you do today? Whats on tap for this weekend?

Twelve not-so-merry rounds

Today marked my second run in Singapore. I did a short 5K again at a small neighborhood park.
It takes just a little over rounds along the outermost perimeter of the park to make one mile. I ran 12 or 13 rounds .... That was quite numbing.

Being as boring as it is going round and round and round, my mind wandered off. Randomness, any one?

1. I arrived here on Wednesday a.m., so I have been here for about 3 or 4 days. But gee... It feels like i have been here a long while.

2. It's hellalously humid. I'm literally a walking glue stick. Yikes!

3. I must give "credit" to the temps. It's not quite as scorching as Arkansas.

4. Thank goodness that my friend's little sister... She found an adapter to let me use my 2-prong plugs. The power outlets here are all 3-prongs. Now, I'm charging it up!

5. I'm not a fan of the iPad. Love my iPhone, but this iPad.... Nah. I'm using my best friend's and it made me reconsider getting one.

6. Walking back after my run, I saw a young boy, maybe around 11 years old, sweating up a storm. I was glad to see him. Slightly proud because he is out there on a Sunday morning instead of laying in bed. It was about 8 am. Child walked to his dad, who started chiding him for not doing his best, for not pushing himself, for walking, for giving up, and told him he's useless(gasp)! I felt sorry for him.

7. I'm on the fence about Body Glide. I think it works and I give it an 8-points out of 10. My shorts didn't exactly ride up like they usually do. But I think my thighs... well... They are thunder thighs and ain't no skinny, twiggy Singaporean men thighs, so instead of riding up, the hems actually flipped upward.

8. Gonna get my hair trimmed sometime soon. Still gonna keep the length because I like my braided ponytail when I run.

9. I need to hydrate better.

10. I can't wait to celebrate Fathers Day with MY daddy. MY daddy! MY!

Stinky goes to town

I am having trouble getting an outlet converter to charge all my electronics, mainly my camera and phone and Garmin. so I still owe you people pictures. Sorry. I am having some problems getting to the Internet, so I havent been posting like I want to.

Prerun snack: a granola bar
Things I brought with me: handheld bottle, $5, ID, subway card, phone.

I ran my first run today (Friday) at 5-ish a.m.. It was humid. I ran from where I'm staying to my parents's place. I was too anxious to get started and didn't wait on the Garmin go start. I think that was definitely a 5K run. I took breaks while standing and waiting fir the lights to turn green. When I got to my mom's, I was soaked through and through

mom and I proceeded to walk for an hour at a park. It was quite good. We talked about random things. After our walk, I had breakfast with her, and took the subway back to where I m staying. Yeah, stinky me was taking the subway with the rush-hour traffic crowd. I'm sure they wished I had taken a shower or wiped off my perspiration. Oops.

Have a good weekend!
