Weekend Round-Up: Long Run and Good Food

I wished I have pictures to show you of my run Saturday morning. But they were blurry like this.
We ran out to the neighborhood I used to live. And out again to this highway. That was about 3 miles.
Along this highway, I counted at least 10 beer cans in less than a span of 1 mile.  Littering is bad.
But drinking and driving and littering?
Oh no!
Running Friend had it at 5 miles so we cut short our run and walked/jog back.
He said his insoles or shoes are giving him trouble.
It was a timely call anyway because it started to sprinkle.
I headed home and ran the remaining miles.
At 11 miles, I thought, well, I can do 12.
At 12 miles, I thought, well, I can do 13.
At 13 miles, I thought, well, I can do a little bit more to finish this movie I was watching.
That's it.
13.22 miles in the bag.
I am proud of myself.

Sunday, I went to church to see this little sweet baby cousin get christened.
She had fallen several days ago because her 2-year sister tried to be helpful and picked her up the steps and dropped her.
I was just glad to be part of this sweet baby's milestone in life.
I love my family.

I went to the grocery store again to pick up not-good-stuff but rather yummy stuff.
There is reason for this madness.
Well, they are mostly for the boyfriend.
I usually just get one of those mini cones and will be plenty satisfied.

I came home and got busy with bread.
I made stromboli - kinda.
This is made with home-made bread.
Roll out the dough.  Place cheese, Canadian bacon, olives, mushrooms and a little pizza sauce.
Roll it up and let it rise a little more.
Bake.
Yummy mess!

For the rest of the dough,
I rolled it and made a hearth-kinda bread (whatever that means).
I like bread that looks like this instead of loaf.
Sprinkle some cheese, Italian herbs and seasoning.
Pop it in the oven...

Sheer delish!
I am about to open a bottle of wine and just read a book and enjoy the rest of my Sunday night.
I LOVE MY FABULOUS WEEKEND!

Family - the best thing on earth

Ran 5K on the treadmill in the morning while watching DVD "Mao's Last Dancer." Took 32 minutes. Felt great. It wasn't hard at all and I could go on and on. But I had to go work for the boyfriend.

Apparently the holiday festivities continue for my boyfriend's family.
We had lots of family coming down from all over the U.S., and we all gathered at Aunt E's house (or she lovingly calls it "my hotel").

Her place is out in a small, friendly community. Humble. Homey. House full of love.

All the kiddos...

I always feel incredibly lucky and blessed to be part of them.

Grandma's 77th Birthday.

On Sunday, we celebrated Grandmother's 77th birhtday.
Well, I don't think we ever knew the exact date because we almost never celebrate it on its actual date.
So, technically, she turned 77 this month ....
However, grandmother is at the early stage of Alzheimers.
She thinks she is 58.
Really.
Here are some shots.
This is a shot of most of the cousins and a future cousin-in-law.

I am close to these boys.
They are good boys.

 A picture with the brothers.
The one in white shirt is shy but a true animal lover.
The one in blue is going through a typical teenager phase. Still a good kid and always looking out for me.
The one in black tee is responsible, sweet and thoughtful.

A picture of the cousins with grandmother.

A picture of aunts and momma in that orange top with brown frills.

Overall, it was great to see everyone.
It felt like old times, in a way.
Just some minor fat talk. But no fat talk can ruin this day.

Weekend fun and some math!

How was your weekend?  A few of y'all had races this weekend, so share your experience with me!!

On Saturday, I went to a 2-year-old birthday party.  I think this was her favorite present ....  It was fun watching those little kiddos running around and playing. My eggs always do some little backflips and dances in my ovaries when I see babies and toddlers.

This was in the papers today.

Anyway, here's some math for you.
New week = new beginning = new goals!

The plan this week:
  • Run at least 8 miles (2, 2.5, 3.5 miles)
  • Do JM's Ripped in 30 every other day
  • Spend 15 minutes a day to pick things up around the house
  • Spend 15 minutes a day on myself - read a fun magazine, pedicure, pluck eye brows, stare into blank space.
  • Eat 5 servings of fruits and vegetables a day
  • Get air tickets booked!!!!!!!!!!!!
All right, I have spent enough time messing around on the computer.
Gonna get my vehicle cleaned out!!!!

Too-much-info?

Friday just wasn't my day. I ate lots of chocolate cake. I ate lots of kettle-cooked chips. I slept on a recliner in the boyfriend's office while he was putting on stains on some furniture. I didn't want to go home and be alone. I was PMSing big time. I was needy like a 2-year-old.

I had two bad dreams. It was wild. I dreamed about two family members dying and I wasn't there. How many people must die before my night is over? It was 8 a.m.; I woke up and head home and slept some more.

And so I started! Yay! I am not PMSing anymore. I kicked the "P" out and have "MS" now.

Finally, I got my beeeee-hind out of bed and head to the Y.  Better be late than never.  It was all right. I ran and ran. Slowly. Last night's pigging out on chips and cake definitely put a toll on my body. But hey, at least I am on the treadmill today. It wasn't bad. It wasn't fantastic. But it is done.

And I'm feeling good. Way better.

July's target was to run 60 miles.  I ran a total of 65 miles. Not too shabby since it was quite a hot month and I have been running indoors.  It can be done. It's all in the attitude.
Proud of my 65 miles - the most miles logged since January.
I love charts and graphs. It helps me see all the progress I have made.

I am a Facebook lover. I love how photo sharing is so easy. And I love my cousin K to death today. Cousin K is a typical teenage dude, trying to be cool at 15 or 16 years old. But I know he loves me because he is the only cousin who asks his folks to come pick me up and send me off at the airport whenever I am going back to Singapore/leaving Singapore. Today, in my sleep on my bed, he tagged me for some pictures. Since the Internet is down at the house, I had to wait to get to the boyfriend's office to check it.

And I saw pictures of my mom and dad. It's my dad's birthday today (or yesterday in Singapore's time). It brought tears to my eyes because I hate to miss all these special days with my family. Happy Birthday, Dad! And I miss my family SO much.  (oops. Looks like I am "P"erpetual MSing).
My mom on the left. My dad in the middle. My favorite Aunt Sharon on right.
I miss my family.
