Once you go Greek ...

It has been a week of inactivity over at the Running Department, other than single wonderful, cool morning run with Paddy Wag on Tuesday.

Work. Lots of work. I'm honing my skills at juggling parent conferences and seeing 30 kids for therapy in 3 different towns and in many different centers in those various towns.

I am also trying to overcome a cold.  So far, there isn't a pronounced winner yet. :(

And LOTS of packing.
Because, apparently, we are moving soon. Very soon. Like tomorrow. Or maybe Monday? But soon.
I'm a little overwhelmed by the things that needed attention before the move.
The move is just a few miles away from where we currently are.
I found out that I have selective overwhelmed syndrome. It's like I selectively get overwhelmed by stuff. I am not really overwhelmed by work. But this packing and boxing things up deal is kinda stressing me out a little.

I probably should take the stress out on the asphalt. But I didn't.  The cold kinda tires me out a little. Yep. Cold plus adjusting to work after a long summer break ... Mentally and physically draining.

In the morning, before I tackle packing, I had a few cups of coffee in my favorite mug.
Decaf anyone?

And in the evening/night time when I was taking a break from packing.
Here's me eating a super yummy concoction of Greek yogurt, banana, strawberries, grapes, granola, and honey! And I'm thinking, once you go Greek, it's kinda hard to get back to regular plain ol' yogurt!
 All right, back to packing.
I promise, once I get settled down, I will try to catch up on reading your blogs.

"Dang! You smell like Icy Hot!"

This weekend long run didn't happened. I did a lot of cross-training in the form of yard work.
We went to our house in Ruston, Louisiana to do yard work and to check on the remodeling work.

I was responsible for raking up all the pine cones.

Gloves make me hot. Taking a little break.
While hanging my gloves up, I spotted a nest in the tree.

You guys probably know that mosquitoes simply adore me.
So, I dabbed Icy Hot all over my limbs, hoping the menthol smell will deter them from eating me up.
I walked past my boyfriend who was pulling weeds and he said, "Dang! You smell like Icy Hot!"

Here are some pictures of the interior of the house.
We have new walls, new paint, new floors.

It's crazy that August is already here.
I'm thinking I will do my long run today or tomorrow, and resume training.
What fun things did you do this weekend?
What are your goals for the grand month of August?
Tell me!

P.S.: And yes... I am just one follower shy of 100.

Sleeping Beauty

I slept so much that if there were judges, they will make Sleeping Beauty relinquish her title and give it to me.

This entire sleep-capade started on Thursday night when I went to bed like any regular adult.
I slept until 5-ish on Friday and then again at around 8-ish in the morning until noonish. Then about 1 p.m., I slept again in my boyfriend's office on a recliner until 4:30 p.m. So I went home, ran, showered and slept again around 7-ish p.m. until around midnight or so.  Then, I was up again working on cleaning my closet and went to bed at around 5-ish a.m. on Saturday until 8-ish and then around 10-ish till 4:30 p.m.

Random afterthoughts....
  1. I missed the gym's opening hours today, which means, I didn't get my run in today.
  2. I still feel tired and if I lie down, I can definitely fall asleep again. No kidding.
  3. I didn't dream at all. None that I can remember.
  4. I can try running in the heat tomorrow. (even though I really don't want to. How about I postpone it to Monday?)
  5. Having my first meal of the day - McDonald's. Gee! I know. Don't judge.

Excuses. Excuses. Excuses.

Reasons why I didn't run my long run (5-miler) today.
  1. I had already laundered my workout clothes and they are ready for my trip.
  2. Since I am taking my favorite tops and bottoms with me, I didn't have another favorite top/bottom I could wear to tempt me into running.
  3. It was hot.
  4. This small town I live in have been having its annual small-town festival since Thursday night.
The Y is in the middle of the town. The time I would go run at the Y coincided with the small-town festival 5K and parade and traffic.
  5. I could have ran the 5K. But I'm too cheap to spend $25 on a 5K where I only paid $30 for a
half-marathon. Besides, I have been buying presents to take home with me. So, plopping down $25 isn't really what I want to do.
  6. My boyfriend has a booth and kept the office's showroom open for customers. That meant I was helping out. That meant late nights, not enough sleep, and a lot of work to do.
  7. I just want to spend every minute, every second with the boyfriend since I am leaving soon.
I probably won't run Sunday or Monday either (See #7.)  I love running. I love shaving miles off my to-run list. Love adding miles to the ticker.com thingy. But I love him just a tad more. So, I choose him.

I plan on running when I am in Singapore. I have my favorite running tanks, bottoms, Body Glide, socks and shoes packed in my suitcase. I plan on walking with my mom at the park. I plan on doing a run/walk with my best friend. I plan on doing lots of walking. So, expect me to blog about that (and my fat-talk experiences, my culinary experiences, my travel experiences).

I am ending this post with a few pictures of the products we proudly make here in Arkansas.
